Arkoon’s R&D organisation takes into account both the various product lines under development and the associated jobs. The main structure relies on specialised teams for each product line, while the technology or methodology expertise common to the overall development is managed by cross-field “cells” as shown in the diagram below.
One cell is dedicated to the security aspects (this cell manages the Security Centre), while another manages the software integration methods, and so on. In parallel, with a structure identical to that of the cells, the “Innovation Committee” gathers the most experienced technical experts to investigate the main potential developments over a period of 12-24 months and to invent innovative future products.
Development at Arkoon revolves around the well-known concept of Product Life Cycle (PLC) — a process based on risk and quality management, which defines the main steps and the check-up points of a project. The main people involved in this process are the Product Marketing Manager and an R&D Product Engineer who are entirely responsible for a product line, from design to obsolescence.
