Groupe GT, founded in 1946, has 1300 employees on more than 100 sites, a fleet of 695 vehicles and 1200 vehicle ownership papers, and over 20% of its turnover is from its logistics service.GT offers logistics services and specialised transport, in four main areas:On-site industrial logistics, Health logistics, Lorry rental with driver, Sensitive logistics

The need
The initial study was started with the objective of allowing a customer to connect to Groupe GT specialist applications. Because of the sensitive nature of this customer’s activities, they required access to Groupe GT’s information systems with no restrictions to place or time and with no special installations on their workstations. As a result, VPN SLL technology was chosen as the optimum solution.
Although this customer project was not implemented, Groupe GT rapidly invested in its information system to capitalise on the advantages of this technology.

The response
The SSL360 S20 installed at the centre of the information system fulfils two major objectives:
1. To give the computing service providers access to the information system with no site restriction thus guaranteeing reactivity and optimum flexibility.
2. To resolve the problems of personnel mobility, particularly managers, by allowing them unrestricted access to applications including e-mails, the company portal (GED), the ERP system, business intelligence, etc. Over sixty employees currently have this access.
This new operating mode has been warmly welcomed by the users and the ROI is likely to be important particularly because of the low cost of implementation and maintenance costs approaching zero.
Building on this success, the Computing Department plans to use the technology of the ARKOON SSL360 appliances to allow a controlled access to its information system by some customers and suppliers.

Why choose Arkoon
Of the three solutions studied, the SSL360 solution proved to be the most flexible, partly because the Java Applet activation on the customer workstation is completely transparent for the users. In addition, the simplicity of installation was an additional bonus in choosing this solution.
