With the innovative development of SOI (silicon-on-insulator), Soitec became a worldwide industrial leader in the microelectronics industry.
SOI is used in the manufacture of wafers that are found in a large number of electronic products for the mass market: PCs and laptops, cameras, DVD players, watches, in addition to cars, planes and satellites, and in the new generation game consoles.


The collaboration between Arkoon and Soitec

• 2002: A study to install an encryption system with a high authentication level; Security BOX Enterprise quickly became the front-runner.
• 2003: Deployment of Security BOX Mail, Disk, File and Safe modules with Security BOX Manager
• 2006: Deployment of the Security BOX Team module of Security BOX Enterprise 6.5 and migration to Security BOX Authority Manager
• 2008: 150 computers equipped.
  

The project

In view of the sensitive nature of its industrial activity, Soitec had always been aware that it was necessary to protect its confidential data and to entrust the protection of its confidential data to an expert in the field.
Before 2002, the company had installed a comprehensive security system with Firewall, Antivirus, etc. and an encryption solution.

The necessity of a high level of authentication and the exchange of confidential data led the company to find a new security solution. Soitec quickly contacted Arkoon - a French company frequently given positive press reports. Arkoon was the only supplier to propose a modular application allowing high authentication, at the same time as data and e-mail encryption, in addition to an easily deployed user management solution.

Security BOX Enterprise is currently deployed on 150 computers (PCs and laptops) within Soitec.
